15. Chiaki Danganronpa 3 (The end of hopes Peak High School)

Chiaki Danganronpa 3 (The end of hopes Peak High School)

Chiaki Danganronpa is considered to be the best girl in “The end of Hope’s Peak high School-Despair Arc”. Jackie was brutally killed at the murderous hands of Junko who saw fit to throw her into a gauntlet of death concluding with her getting impaled every which way.

Honestly, this death was so much more brutal than the one in the game. Chiaki Nanami literally went through so much pain (getting impaled multiple times, hit in the face with metal spheres, etc.) and still tried her best to get out so she could see everyone else again, although she was given false hope.

I can’t forget the pain and the sorrow when seeing the best anime girl screaming with pain during her last seconds of life. This is the saddest anime death of the best anime girl who has a nice character.

14. Jiraiya (Naruto)

Jiraiya (Naruto)

Jiraiya was one of the best characters in Naruto anime. Jiraiya was also part of the 3rd Legendary Sannins which is known for being powerful in the whole Hidden Leaf Village. In my point of view, I probably hate this character.

I liked the way he was a sort of father figure to Naruto as he was his teacher but didn’t like his personality. I skipped his last fight in the mission originally because I found it boring. Later I found out that he died at the same time Naruto did. I was not pretty much upset but literally, I was shocked, although I didn’t like him, I still didn’t want him to die.

The most interesting thing that made me cry was Jiraiya’s last words “The true measure of a shibnobi is not how he lives but how he dies”.

“Let me explain something to you, there is only one thing that matters if you are a Shibnobi, and it isn’t the number of Jutsu you possess. All you need is the guts to never give up” – Jiraiya Sensei.

13. Escanor (Deadly Sins by Nakaba Suzuki)

Escanor (Deadly Sins by Nakaba Suzuki)

Escanor is one of the best and stronger characters in the Seven Deadly Sins by Nakaba Suzuki series. He is one of the 7 deadly sins that are far superior to almost characters in this respective series. The most interesting fact about Escanor was, He was known as the Lion, Sin of Pride which acquired the power of the sun.

Escanor never turned to stone by Galand when he said he stood at the pinnacle of all races. Because he never lied. He beat Meliodas, and Zeldris and kicked the Demon King’s ass. None of them killed Escanor. The only thing that beat Escanor and that got him killed was his pride and his own power. I call it the most poetic death for The Lion Sin of Pride and the best poetry man in anime.

I individually cried so much during that scene. In his last poem, he told Merlin that he wasn’t able to win her heart. This man meant everything to me and he won’t ever be forgotten.

According to Manga ” Even the mightiest sin has fallen and gone with the wind”.

Escanor’s death was so unfortunate. He won’t be forgotten for his bravery and noble sacrifices.

12. L Lawliet (Death Note)

 L Lawliet (Death Note)

L Lawliet was a smart and great character in the series Death Note which is one of the best mystery anime series of all time by Tsugumi Ohba and was illustrated by Takeshi Obata.

Though L Lawliet was a detective so he has to hide and prevent his identity from all the people to keep himself safe from his enemies, after all, he solved the mystery of various crimes.

Death Note was the first anime that made me attracted to anime. If you are a Death Note anime fan, you all know somewhere or at some point in time, L Lawliet has to die.

The most curious thing that I noticed and made me even more emotional was When L Lawliet said “The Shinga” the light smiled at him I cried more because I remembered that L Lawliet always considered Light as his best friend.

The second saddest part of the death was that L Lawliet was so close to figuring out the case and the worst thing which the story tells ” The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from enemies”.

11. Shinobu Kocho (Demon Slayer)

Shinobu Kocho (Demon Slayer)

Shinobu Kocho is one of the supporting characters in the series Demon Slayer which was written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge.

She was one of the nine demon slayers who were considered to be more powerful than normal human beings. The demon slayers have some different breathing capabilities which make them powerful and unique from the others.

Some interesting facts about Shinobu Kocho are -She basically saved everyone in the series, She turned Nezuko into a human, and saved Zenitsu’s life. She worked with two demons to create antidotes. She was like a mother figure for Nezuko and also takes care of Kanao.

Shinobu Kochu had gone through a lot of struggles during her life. But her struggle came to an end when she sacrificed her own life to take down a powerful villain. What makes it more interesting yet heartbreaking was her last battle was the demon who killed her sister and the one who also killed her after seeking revenge.

This Series has also been awarded Anime of the Year 2020 by Crunchyroll.

10. Maes Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Maes Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Maes Hughes was the main character of (Fullmetal Alchemist), who was a Lieutenant Colonel stationed at Central City and assisted Edward Elric in investigating the Homunculus until his death at the hands of Envy.

The most interesting fact about Maes Hughes was that he was a family-centric person and this was a special feature or example of his character which makes him able to remain one of the most optimistic characters in the entire series.

Another interesting thing that we need to notice or appreciate about Maes Hughes was that no matter on which mission he is going in, he always had a mindset to return to his home and meet his family.

He was a kind character, he wasn’t such a type of person who turn away someone when he need help. But sometimes as we all know our act of kindness can lead us to our own end or death. The same thing happened with Maes Hughes, It’s also the trait and some conspiracies that leads to his death.

9. Sakura Yamauchi (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas)

Sakura Yamauchi (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas)

Sakura Yamauchi Is a famous character. She is the deuteragonist of the film ‘I Want to Eat Your Pancreas’ by Yoru Sumino. The ending of this was so heartbreaking which made their fans so sad.

The name of this animation is ” I want to eat your pancreas”. It is because there is a legend that if you eat the same part of someone else’s pancreas as the part of yourself that is diseased, you will be cured of that disease. So, “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” has two different meanings: “I want to cure my pancreatic disease” and “I liked you so much”.

As this film is not so interesting as compared to “Silent Voice” and “Your Lie in April” series. But It has its own relevance to the story.

Sakura who was suffering from severe pancreatic cancer wanted to live her life meaningfully. She kept her state and condition hidden from her family and friends because she didn’t want to make them worry.

We all know she was suffering from cancer, so her death was unavoidable and assured. But she died while waiting for a person whom she wants to spend her short time with, It’s so heartbreaking.

8. Bellemere (One Piece)

Bellemere (One Piece)

Bellemere was a famous character in One Piece. She was the mother of Nami and Nojiko. She was a former Navy Member.

Bellemere died while protecting her daughters. But the interesting part of the story is, she never lied in her entire life. Although she was so poor and not financially strong, she did everything to raise the two girls.

But in the end, Arlong killed Bellemère by gunshot in both the anime and the manga. However, while he shot her in the chest in the anime, he shot her in the head in the manga.

Her death was so heartbreaking for the viewers of One Piece though she has brilliantly played the character role of a struggling mother for the protection and survival of her daughters.

7. Sasha Braus (Attack on Titan)

Sasha Braus (Attack on Titan)

Sasha Braus is one of the famous supporting characters in the “Attack on Titan” series. Sasha Braus died on “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life (The Walking Dead)” episode produced by Greg Nicotero.

Shasha Braus was so superstitious and self-centric character. She only cared about herself and her village. She was part of the Survey Corps Army. Sasha’s death was so heartbreaking for her fans because she died because a kid shot her randomly out of revenge.

On the other hand, Sasha was probably one of the luckiest characters in the series because she died quickly and relatively painlessly by a gunshot to the chest by a kid. Another interesting fact about her death was, she was one of the only characters surrounded by her friends as she passed.

6. Nanami Kento (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Nanami Kento (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Nanami Kento is one of the famous and supporting characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. Nanami’s monologue before getting killed was so heartbreaking. He admits all he wants is to get some rest and then says such relatable stuff like finally being able to read those books he has neglected for a while.

One of the famous sayings of Nanami Kento was ” You’ve got it from here”.

The most heartbreaking thing about Nanami Kento’s death is that he died during a battle that he didn’t even have a chance to escape.

One more interesting fact about that is It has been awarded ‘Anime of the Year 2021’ by Crunchyroll.

5. Hange Zoe (Attack on Titan)

 Hange Zoe (Attack on Titan)

Hange Zoe is one of the famous and brilliant characters in the “Attack on Titan” series written that is illustrated and written by Hajime Isayama. She was a part of the Survey Corps and the commander of Titan operations inside the walls.

Hange was so brave and warm-hearted and positive despite the cruel world full of deaths and screams of fear. The viewers were terribly sad about her death though she was also known as “Titan Flesh”. She was a kind of funny personality.

In my own opinion, Her death is heroic unlike the others and rather than just making the titan step into her, isayama makes her automatically teleport to heaven. Hange’s death is basically very respectful.

One of the famous Hange’s sayings is

“Believe yourself, belief in you, you can do it on your own, do it by yourself because no one doesn’t do it for you, So do it you can.”

Hange Zoe.

4. Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion)

Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion)

The real name Lelouch Lamperouge is Lelouch vi Britannia. He was the famous and the most interesting protagonist of the Sunrise anime series Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.

There is no doubt that this is a real masterpiece. Lelouch from the beginning for Nanali to the latter for the whole world. Among them, the change is enormous, and the last requiem is to sublimate the whole animation.

Lelouch Lamperouge was a hero, a traitor, a liberator, a villain, and a martyr that is what people see him as but in truth, he is the most selfish person in the world. Wanting to bring about vengeance and destruction in the pursuit of finding who had taken his childhood from him and destroying thousands of lives in order to bring an end to his father’s empire.

Then, at the end of the journey. He becomes a selfless martyr, willing to put his pride and reputation, the two things that defined his character, forfeit in order to bring about the most selfless pursuit of all: World Peace not by conquest but by the hearts of the people of the world.

This anime has taught me what it takes to be a leader and at the same time, a great friend and that victory take sacrifice.

The best emotional ending to an anime series, A friend copying the act against his best friend, a lover saying goodbye to the man she loved, and a sister who mourns the comprehension of their brother’s actions while others rejoice from his demise.

In my opinion, Lelouch Vi Britannia is the only protagonist to live long enough to see him become the villain, yet still, die a hero.

3. Koro Sensei (Assassination Classroom)

Koro Sensei (Assassination Classroom)

Koro Sensei was a great character in “Assassination Classroom“. He is one of the most iconic characters in anime and he’s so lovable, he is easily one of my favorites.

One of Koro Sensei’s attributes was the fact that he was able to connect to each student individually, being an objective, empathic, and observant person who will do almost anything to help his students and learners. This was the reason why all the students respect him despite the fact that he was going to blow up the Earth in the year.

Taking care of each student’s needs, Koro Sensei would sometimes be piqued by a student’s current problems or interests and would try his best to guide the student along or solve it for them.

The difference between the novice and the master is that the master has failed more times than the novice has tried

Koro Sensei

2. Kaori Miyazono (Your Lie in April)

Kaori Miyazono was a famous character who played the role of a violinist in the famous Japanese romantic drama manga series “Your Lie in April” (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso) written by Naoshi Arakawa.

This series really confused me not in a bad way but good, I mean, I don’t know how someone could be so happy knowing that she is going to die, or how she kept her true feelings inside.

Your Lie in April is one of my favorite anime of all time. You can’t beat any anime like this. Even though you may not enjoy classical music, You can appreciate the story and relationships that this anime presents itself, This is a masterpiece.

The saddest part before her death was how her hair color slowly faded away throughout the series, I noticed that early on and I knew something was wrong.

I remember one other scene when Kousei, Kaori, Tsubaki, Watari, and Kashiwagi were at the school pool, They were asking each other about what they wanted to do in their future and lighting sparklers. When somebody asked Kaori, What she wanted to do in her future? She said something along the lines of “I haven’t really thought about that yet” and it showed her sparkler suddenly going out. I’d assumed this was early foreshadowing for her death.

1. Ace (One Piece)

Ace (One Piece)

Ace was one of the famous characters of One Piece. He was the son of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. Ace was a charming and interesting personality. Ace was the older brother who looked after Luffy very carefully and sympathetically. He saved Luffy multiple times during the battles and later became a role model to Luffy.

He was the initiative and supporter behind Luffy, he was the inspiration behind Luffy, and he was the one who pushed Luffy to get stronger even in death.

Considering Ace’s past, that he still chooses to become a pirate is remarkable. You might think that he would’ve become a marine and rejected the idea of a pirate’s life for how much he hated his father.

In my opinion, Ace was a strong pirate, with a heart of gold never backed down from a fight, he was loved by his brothers from White Board, loved by his little brother Luffy, He will be remembered the Rodger legacy will live on.

One more interesting thing related to this moment is Portas D. Ace and Itachi Uchiha: two older brothers, who both cared deeply for their younger brother, and both died with smiles on their faces.

The moment which was so heartbreaking was the final words-

Thank you for loving me and Did I deserve to be born, or am I just a mistake.

Portas D. Ace

These words personally hit me so hard as we never saw that side of Ace, we only saw this cool older brother who was always happy and even smiled mere seconds before death.
